Awesome Memorial Day Weekend!

This past weekend was so exciting! My son's girlfriend and I flew out to Delaware to attend my daughter's graduation ceremony (with her Masters) at The University of Delaware. We arrived Thursday afternoon, and flew home on Monday.

I didn't realize that I would love the picture above so much! I think of it as representing her leaving her school behind, and walking toward a bright new future with confidence!

Saturday we spent the day in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. It was an interesting drive. I still can't figure out how anyone can live without modern convenience! Look at those pretty, blue skies!

On our way back from Lancaster, we stopped at this adorable winery. We did a little wine tasting, then sat outside and enjoyed a glass of wine. I even bought the cutest souvenir wineglass! I think I'd like to visit wineries more often. They are such a fun way to spend a little time. We have so many around here just across the border in Michigan, I think I'll visit a few in the near future!

Sunday we drove out to Atlantic City. It was another beautiful and sunny day. At the very end of the trip, I slipped a $20 into a slot machine, first couple spins, I hit the bonus, and I actually came out $6.90 ahead! I was excited because it's the first time I DIDN'T LOSE! I cashed out just so I could say I won something in Atlantic City. I'm a rebel, I know!

The view as we were heading down to the beach. So pretty, isn't it? This place is way bigger than I ever thought it was! The boardwalk seemed to go on forever. We only covered part of it.

I took these pictures under one of the piers. It wasn't until I got a bunch of cool shots that I saw the big, red signs that said "DANGER." They are cool pictures but they needed some adjustments in my photo program.

Do you not love this fountain?! I could have watched it for hours. It was in a little mall on the boardwalk. Got some cool video of it too.

It was a fun weekend with my beautiful daughter! I know, on the RARE occasions that I allow a picture of myself, I never smile in them. I bought us these funky matching sunglasses too.

Lost Camera - A Good Tip!

I've posted this once before, but I think that with Summer coming and more people will be taking their cameras along, it's time to re-post!

Not everyone is like me and takes their camera everywhere they go, but this is the time of year when people will be taking their cameras a lot more often. I recently found a camera in the shoe department at Bass Pro. Yes, of course I turned it into customer service, however, I would have preferred to have been able to contact the owner myself. That way I would have known that the person would have gotten their camera back, because I would have returned it myself, or told customer service that the owner knows where to come get it. In this incident, I'm trusting that customer service department has honest personnel.

What you need to do is to type up in a large font, your name, email address, and phone number in your word processor or graphics program. If you don't have one, you can even write this information on a big piece of paper. Next, take a photo of this information. Never delete this photo! If you do, just repeat the steps above.

Now, in order for this tip to work, a very  honest person must find your camera. I like to think that there are more honest people than not, so hopefully, if you leave your camera behind on a bus or at a restaurant, you will have a better chance of getting your camera back.

Have a fun Summer and take LOTS of pictures!

Black Cat - BIG Yawn!

This was too funny not to post. I had just downloaded some pics from my memory card and this is what I found. Punkie was laying on the craft table. I thought I'd play around with my zoom and work on my focusing, which obviously needs work, when I took this picture. She was just sitting there looking pretty for the camera, then at some point during my pushing the button, she yawned. I never noticed it while taking the pictures.

What a big mouth for a little cat!

PS...I also forgot to use the flash. The room was too dark not to use it.

Our Baby Lamb is 2 Weeks Old Now

A few posts earlier I told you that one of our sheep gave birth to twins. Unfortunately, one of them didn't make it. When I got to work the following Monday, I saw him in the treatment room, on heat, I knew it didn't look good. He passed away later that day.

The other lamb is doing great! She follows that poor mom around every single minute. I'll bet she was wishing she could just get a babysitter for a little while so she could have some grown-up time! It is awful cute though.

It's not too easy to get a good photo because she's usually under mom, or pressed up so close to her, you can barely make out what it is. I did manage to get these yesterday.

It's going to be so fun watching her grow up!

Vacation Clipart Images - Vacation Here I Come!

I'm so excited to be able to fly out to Delaware next week for my daughter's college graduation! Unfortunately my husband will have to stay home, but my son's girlfriend will make the trip with me. We have a ton of fun things planned while we are there!

In anticipation of this awesome trip, I created a clipart set that I call Road Trip. I'll be making some background papers in the near future, but I thought these images would be so fun to create scrap pages when I return. And those who know me well, know that camera will be in hand the entire trip.

Do you have any fun plans for this summer?

Road Trip, along with lots of other fun clipart, background papers, and printable can be found at my Etsy Shop HERE.

Mother's Day

I hope everyone had a nice Mother's Day! Mine was fabulous. My son, his girlfriend, and my parents came over for a luncheon. We had chicken salad on a bed of lettuce, fresh watermelon, cantaloupe, and yummy rolls. Healthy and delicious!

My son, who has had the pleasure of meeting Howard (our clinic owl, who has since passed), knows I love owls so they got me one of those real looking owls whose head moves to scare away various birds. I hope it will keep away that pesky woodpecker who keeps pecking at the side of our house.

My daughter lives in Delaware so she wasn't able to join us. I would be sadder about that but we spoke on the phone today and we discussed our getting together NEXT WEEK! I'm so excited!!! My son's girlfriend and I will be flying out for her graduation. We have so many fun things planned. I just wish my husband could go, but he can't :(

As usual, my mother spoiled me this Mother's Day. Isn't it supposed to be the other way around? Anyway, along with a few other things, she gave me a little bag with the grandma themed bibs, and a Grandma book. I think she is preparing me for my first grand baby that will be here in October. Next Mother's Day will be even more fun because the baby will be here!

Crab Apple Tree Outside My Window

My absolute favorite thing about Spring is when the subtle breezes bring the beautiful scents into the house. This crab apple tree sits just outside my craft room and my living room windows. We had the windows open a couple days ago and this tree, along with my neighbor's lilac bush, scented those rooms so beautifully.

Another fun thing about my crab apple tree is that the deer love the apples. I also get to watch the deer all over my yard in the fall, while they are enjoying the crab apples!

No, I'm not a grandma yet! That will come in October. One of the sheep that resides at the animal clinic where I work just had two babies. They were born on Thursday. I didn't even know she was pregnant! We have so many animals there, I can't keep track.

Animal images were taken from my "Critters" and "Country Living" Clipart sets that are available at Etsy.

More With My Trusty Assistant

I'm on an applique craze right now and my trusty assistant is always there to help. Do you think that she has the same appreciation for color as I do?

Thank you to Sarah from A Cat Like Curiosity for the comment she made in this post about Punkie running off with embroidery threads!

This is certainly a good post to remind everyone that thread can be, in fact, IS very DANGEROUS for your pets! As innocent as it may seem, I have seen many animals die from ingesting it in my 5 years working at the animal hospital. What happens is that as it works its way through the digestive system, it can get caught up and then entangles itself along the way, and then slices right through the organs. Usually, by the time they get to us, it's too late.

So if you ever see a string coming out from your dog or cat's bottom, DON'T PULL IT AND DON'T CUT IT. Call your vet Immediately! This is an emergency!

So please watch your pets while you are crafting, and be sure to scan your areas for loose threads.

My Tree Frog Is Back!

My little friend has returned! I saw something on my living room window and there he was, my little tree frog! I wondered if this was the same frog that's been sticking itself to my window and swimming with me in the pool for the past couple years. I did a little research and I have come to the conclusion that this could indeed be my very own tree frog!

In my research I learned that he's been living in my yard all winter long. He either lived under the soil, or in one of my potted plants. They don't freeze to death because during this hibernation period, their body has what's like a natural anti-freeze that protects them.

I tried to see how long they lived and I got so many different answers. Some sites said they lived four to seven years, while another said up to twenty. So I didn't find out that answer but I learned enough to make me believe this is my tree frog!

So what should I name him?

Wishing well is from my "Spring Fever" clipart set that is available at my etsy shop:
